Parents/Guardians and Symphonic Winds students,
UIL season is upon us, and that means hitting the ground running with music preparation and other essential activities! Below you’ll find lots of valuable information, ranging from scheduled after-school rehearsals to rehearsal essentials. Please email me if there are any questions!
After-School Rehearsals (ASR) – please consult the Wolf Band Calendar!
Materials
Essential: basic 3-ring binder (with clear cover ‘pocket’); at least 1”. Should hold all copies of music, handouts, exercises, calendars, etc. Please have this folder by the first ASR on 2/17.
Optional, but strongly suggested: Zipper pouch (for pencils, erasers, extra reeds, valve oil, etc.); Dividers/Tabs (for organization of papers into music, exercises, calendars, etc.)
Charms Recording Tests
Students will be assigned recording tests to be submitted via the Charms website or the Charms mobile app. There will be several of them throughout the Spring Semester. Students should be familiar with the Charms program/app before submitting a recording. These tests will be worth a Major grade unless informed otherwise.
Remind (formerly known as Remind101)
Just like the in the Fall, our Spring classes will use the REMIND service frequently for updates on travel details, reminders about rehearsals and assignments, as well as general distribution of information. We are asking all students and parents/guardians to subscribe, and please keep in mind that this a different Remind account than the one used in the Fall for marching band details. That account is still active, but obviously not used until marching season starts back up this Summer. Please go to HERE to subscribe; it’s that easy! You can even set preferences to receive texts as well as emails, if you want to make sure you are kept up-to-date!
