Chad E. Allen, Associate Director of Bands
Mr. Chad E. Allen is entering his 2nd year as Associate Director of Bands at Westside High School and his twelfth year as a music educator. Mr. Allen received his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois and a Master of Music Degree at The University of Arizona . Prior to his appointment at Westside High School, Mr. Allen spent five years at Bellaire High School where he conducted the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band. He also taught classes in AP & IB Music as well as oversaw a very successful Winter Guard and Percussion Ensemble. He started his teaching career as a band director in Tucson, Arizona.Throughout his career Mr. Allen has been active within the schools and community as a conductor, private teacher, drill designer, and adjudicator. During graduate school he served as a graduate assistant for the university bands and was the Assistant Director for the University of Arizona’s Junior High School Outreach Band. Mr. Allen has been designing half-time entertainment for the “Pride of Arizona” since 1993 and continues to serve the athletic bands as a creative consultant.
Mr. Allen’s responsibilities at Westside High School include conducting the Symphonic Winds, Jazz Ensemble and serving as the Assistant Director of the Marching Band. He also teaches an AP Music Theory Class and assists in beginning brass classes at Paul Revere and West Briar Middle Schools.
Mr. Allen is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and is an honorary member of the Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma music fraternities.
