A Successful Day at Region Band Auditions

Congrats to the following students for auditioning and being selected for the UIL Region 23 Honor Bands: David Espinoza (Freshman Band), Sarah Morrell (Symphonic Band), Charles Hitt, and Cheng Li (Both in Wind Ensemble). Charles and Cheng performed well enough to advance to the Area auditions. Congrats and best of luck to everyone!

Friday Football Frenzy!

A big THANK YOU to everybody that came out EARLY Friday morning to take part in Channel 2's "Friday Football Frenzy". We have received a lot of positive feedback from people in the community who saw us on TV throughout the broadcast. We represented ourselves and the school in a very positive manner. Go Wolves !!!!!

Straight Ones at Central Texas Marching Showcase

Congrats to the band and PRIDE for their performance on 10/3/09 at the Central Texas Marching Contest in Round Rock. All judges awarded a "superior" rating! Another Record Breaking Performance at UIL!

Congrats to the Symphonic Winds and the Wind Ensemble for their performances at the Region 23 UIL Contest on April 24th! The Symphonic Winds made much improvement this year with an overall "2" on stage and a "2" in sight-reading. The Wind Ensemble received their first "one" rating at the varsity level, making school history. Congrats to all students for their hand work and commitment!

Car Washes!

Hey band! (yes that includes you too freshmens) We need a lot of help for these 3 upcoming car washes so we expect to see everyone there! We have our next car wash on June 20th July 11th and July 25 all from 12-3. So come on by hang with some friends and help us wash car to raise money for band. See you there

FIRST DIVISION ONE RATING AT UIL MARCHING CONTEST

The Westside Marching Band made SCHOOL HISTORY at the Region 23 UIL Marching Band Contest on 10/21/08. For the first time since the school opened, the band received a rating of "first division" at the varsity level. This is a HUGE step forward for the band program and a testiment to the hard work and dedication of the students. Way to go!

Big Success at the Myerson Center in Dallas

The Symphonic Winds and The Wind Ensemble brought home many trophies after their performances in the Myerson Center in Dallas on March 27, 2009. The Symphonic Winds earned an "Excellent" rating, was awarded "Outstanding Section" for the flutes, and"Outstanding Soloist" for Erin Smith. The Wind Ensemble received a "Superior" rating, "Outstanding Section" awards for the percussion and woodwinds, and "Outstanding Soloist" for Cheng Li. The Westside Bands brought home the "Overall Best in Class" award and the "Sweepstakes" award.

Westside Rules at All-City!

Band Members auditioned for the All City Band on Monday, November 24. Out of the 90 piece honor band 31 musicians will be from Westside High School alone !! Special recognition goes to 14 of those students who will sit First Chair in their respective sections !
